This was such a fun family to shoot. I have known these two since they were in high school, and to see them now… married with 2 beautiful boys is such a joy!
I photographed this family when they were a family of 3 with one on the way, and now to shoot them in their own home… as a (for now) complete unit of 4 was so fun. Dad says that they are done… but mom isn’t completely sure! I just told them to take it one step at a time.
People always get nervous about being photographed in their homes, and I know exactly how they feel. (because I still get nervous about being photographed in my own home… making sure everything is clean and cute!!) But I feel like it is just the most natural environment to capture the beginning of the new and exciting life that exists with a newborn. I know that there are other photographers out there who really jump through hoops with props and all of the “Anne Geddes” type of newborn creativity… but that just plain isn’t my thing. I love to capture the comfortable, loving and casual interaction that takes place as a family!!
Yes, get some cute shots of the baby… focus on the baby… but don’t forget that he/she is a part of a larger family.
